The Office of the Auditor General has released a Special Report entitled The Scrap Metal Tender and Contract with Matrix International Inc.
Auditor General Dan Duguay explained that the objective of the audit was to review the government processes relating to tender preparation, evaluation of submissions and the awarding of the scrap metal contract to Matrix International Inc. The report also reviews whether the government did sufficient due diligence relating to the principals of Matrix International Inc. As a result of this work, the Office of the Auditor General has made a number of recommendations that it hopes will strengthen and improve the processes used by government when making decisions on large procurement contracts.
This report, which has been distributed to all members of the Legislative Assembly, is available for public review. Copies can be obtained at the Office of the Auditor General, 3rd Floor, Anderson Square, or it may be accessed through the Cayman Islands Government website. (See Features on the home page.)
